Sorofman-Klein Family of Russia & Lithuania
Barnet and Tillie (Goldsman) Sorofman immigrated with their young family from Soroki, (now, Moldava) Russia in the early 1900’s, settling in Massachusetts. Their youngest son, David, married Ida Frances Klein in Maine in 1921. According to their marriage record, Ida was born in Olckenekie, Lithuania in about 1901. By the census of 1910, Ida was living in Maine, probably in Oxford County and probably where she and David met. By the time their son, Harold, was born, the young couple was living across the continent in Oregon. Our Sorofman line begins with this family, David and Ida (Klein) Sorofman.
